Winter sun yoga holiday with Judy Hirsh
13 Feb-20 Feb 2011 Kerala beach & backwaters

Yoga, breathing & meditation in superb resort with ayurvedic spa. Relax by India’s serene backwaters and sunsets over the beach. Time out to feel your radiant self with dedicated teacher Judy Hirsh 07956 375 607 judyhirsh@hotmail.com
This year the holiday is in the fertile land of Kerala, known to the locals as ‘God’s own country’. The fabulous resort itself is near Cochin and is exquisitely landscaped with lagoons and canals meandering around the en-suite cottages, with clean long beach at the front and serene backwaters behind. The sun rises over the line of palm trees on the backwaters where small fishing boats are already silently at work. The beach is the place to be not only for swimming and spotting the occasional dolphin, but for the beautiful sunsets over the Arabian sea.
Daily yoga and related practice sessions take place in a traditional coconut leaf thatched area. The yoga itself is designed to enhance the experience of being in the most beautiful natural surroundings with wide horizons and clear waters. The journey inside reflects the beauty of outside so we can uncover the essence that lies in the heart. Practices include hatha yoga, pranayama breathing, relaxation, meditation, yoga nidra and restorative practices including reiki - when we slow down and quieten the brain, we have the time to notice and rediscover ourselves again. The increase in strength, stamina and strength is more of a well-earned bonus rather than a major aim.
The delicious food is a combination of local and western dishes in buffet style. The waiters and kitchen.
There is a fantastic ayurvedic spa for relaxing ayurvedic massage & other treatments which can be added as an extra part of the package or booked at reception.
There is a blissful ayurvedic spa for treatments (not included in the holiday cost)
An optional add on to the holiday is the yoga homestay with a local teacher who has been teaching both Indians and tourists for many years. The homestay is in simple clean rooms most with en-suite bathrooms. Solaman’s wife Priya cooks the most fantastic keralan food and is happy for you to learn as she cooks. Most of the ingredients are grown on the land around the house and it is a truly authentic experience living with a typical middle-class Indian family. Yoga is twice daily. Asana, pranayama and relaxation practices with a focused and dedicated teacher will encourage you to deepen your practices over a number of days. You can travel to or from the above resort at a daily rate.
