Creative Stone Carving & Crafts of Tamil Nadu Practical Taster Course - add on by Yoga United

To extend your India trip as an add onto your yoga retreat holiday in Kerala, this new course emerged from our connections to the history and culture of stone carving in Tamil Nadu. Our very own Saz Sampath spent 8 years studying at the University of Madras' Fine Arts Department in Mamallapuram and gained a first class degree in Traditional Indian Fine Arts. We take you there to sketch at the Fiver Rathas, an experimental training ground for stone carvers in the 17th century. If you're a beginner, our skilled carvers will teach you how use the tools to carve and finish a pendant, and advise you on a small relief tile and tools to take home. You will visit some traditional stone carvers, temples and be immersed in the local culture - and have a go at flower weaving, rangoli-making, and other traditional crafts which have remained the same for centuries (depending on availability). You will stay in a stunning resort with yoga and mindful practices before breakfast with Lindsey Watson to get you in the creative zone. For partners or those not feeling the creative juices flow, our tried and tested temple tour ensure you will see amazing sights, go shopping and relax by the beautiful swimming pool. This is a 3 night add on but can be a bespoke trip for longer if you'd like to get a deeper understanding of your craft.
