If you are caring for others who are suffering from sleeplessness and insomnia, this course will facilitate your care for them.

Live on Zoom with guided practices and presentations. This course aims to provide an experiential and structured learning on the applications of yoga and therapy practices for those suffering from sleep deprivation and insomnia - for self care and the care of others.

It is estimated around a third of the UK population suffer from sleeplessness and this number is rising sharply. Aimed at the over-tired, fatigued, exhausted, menopausal or simply curious, this course of studying and snoozing includes experiential practices to explore conditions for restful sleep and creative practices for when sleep is elusive.

A scientific framework investigates why we need sleep, natural rhythms, brain states and the nervous system. We will cover some science, philosophy and psychology of a disturbed mind with bed time story, and lullaby nidra, the power of affirmation, and experiential embodied practices with take home sequences to practice which are recorded for you to repeat.

Hopefully the presentations will not send you to sleep but there will be plenty of practices such as pranayama, restorative postures, and sleepy nidras where you might find yourself snoozing. Sleep journal preparation & take home recorded practices will support continued practice.

I looked forward to this course as I have a sister who sleeps very badly and wanted to learn more ways to help her. The course fully explained the science of sleep. This, along with a comprehensive range of practices (which were both discussed and undertaken) made for a very positive learning experience, which I am happy to recommend. I would say the Swara yoga and practice of Shanmukti mudra, were the highlights!

What a wonderful experience. Judy’s qualities of deep knowledge and wisdom helped me appreciate how my habits may impact on my sleep patterns. Offering a step by step journey into finding rest, releasing tension in the body through gentle movement patterns and calming yoga nidra. The course was balanced between knowledge sharing, experiential learning and deep rest. I adore Judy’s warm, encouraging and inclusive teaching style. This course is a fabulous resource for anyone wishing to improve their sleep

As a yoga teacher, many of my students have been reporting sleep and relaxation issues, especially during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Personally, my sleep quality had definitely deteriorated since having children and now more than ever in my peri-menopausal years. The course exceeded my expectations on both a professional and personal level. I came away with a fantastic collection of knowledge about sleep, yoga practices, and ideas for further reading and research; and most importantly, the confidence to share all of that with my students. Judy's teaching style suits the course content so well, and she has the skill to impart lots of knowledge while also giving participants the opportunity to contribute their own ideas and experiences. I think the course actually benefited from being online, enabling participants from all over the country to easily access it from the comfort of their own homes and bedrooms! In summary, I can highly recommend this course on both a personal and professional level.

This course covered everything I needed to help me get better quality/more sleep, from the science to the application of yoga principles to aid sleep. I especially enjoyed Judy’s yoga nidra, and found the practices we learnt particularly powerful. Since I have started to use them , I never fail to get to sleep!
