Chair Yoga for Mature Movers
This workshop with Richard Kravetz will provide you with new skills and creative ways to guide the elderly to move safely, find support and feel included in yoga classes. So useful with your own mature family members, in elderly care settings and specialised yoga classes.
NEXT DATE: Sat 20 June 2020
Venue: The Arc Centre, 98b St Paul Street, London, N1 7DF (near Essex Road Overground, Angel tube on the Northern line)
Sitting in a chair, standing with the aid of a chair or even dancing around the chair, Richard introduces safe ways to invite the mature
to move, affirm, and feel good
The maximum size of the group is 26 as we prefer small group training where everyone is involved and can share their experiences. Learn creative and fun ways to encourage those with limited mobility to explore their potential in becoming physically, emotionally and psychologically stronger, more able and more joyful. You will learn how to work with a variety of abilities, and those managing single or multiple ailments, dementia, sensory impairment and other age related issues.
This workshop with Richard Kravetz brings yoga to the mature years community. Whether you are teaching a mature family member, a group in elderly care or hospital, yoga and related practices such as breathing, affirmations and mindful movement are offered as a therapeutic tool to those who are unable to get down on a yoga mat.
Movement in the body can often shift perspective in the mind and mood so you will explore how yoga can be adapted for different conditions by reducing complicated manoeuvres with chairs, bolsters, blocks and cushions, and making movements simpler, user-friendly and pleasurable. Releasing and relaxing massage techniques, theoretical and practical solutions to a variety of situations will be included.
This workshop is aimed at yoga teachers, school teachers, occupational therapists, carers and anyone who wishes to gain confidence in offering safe yoga practices for the mature.
Richard Kravetz has been teaching Yoga for over 15 years to mature adults, children and people with special needs. He currently teaches at Day Centres, Special Schools & Residential Homes. He holds a light-hearted, strong & compassionate space for students in which to learn and share.
