A warm welcome to Yoga United Education’s trauma informed Yoga Therapy Diploma course!
The Yoga United Education’s “Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapy Diploma” training is a 600 hour BCYT accredited professional programme delivered over 24 months with live online weekends, in person weekends in London, with written assignments and case studies. Supported recorded content and resources on our online learning platform are downloadable so it’s yours for safe-keeping and revisiting.
Our training is practical, intuitive and essentially trauma-sensitive. This approach to yoga therapy means that you do not only learn ‘about’ yoga, science and therapy but you become practiced in ‘how to’ do session work, refine your skills in real sessions, practice putting theory into practice, to become fluent in the language of yoga therapy.
Each trainee is encouraged to develop their own unique style of yoga therapy based on their specialist interests, previous learning and authentic personal transformation that comes through this opportunity for deep learning. From deep understanding and acceptance, therapists create safe containers in which to support others. Together we can spread yoga and yoga therapy out into our communities to contribute to the much-needed shift towards acceptance and healing of all sentient beings and the world.
You will learn how to tune into individual needs, assess and read bodies and body language, understand the needs of those seeking help and guide them to reclaim their power and become pro-active in their own process. Both 1-2-1 and small group therapy is covered so you have ready to implement programmes based on your own authorship, and research of your specialities with marketing material to enrol participants.
The 10 modules include:
- Scientific understanding of the body’s systems and related conditions
- Experiential and subtle anatomy
- Philosophy into action, Patanjali’s yoga sutras
- Psychology of behaviour, cognition and consciousness
- Practical assignments in marketing and setting up in professional yoga therapy practice
- Trauma-informed language, scope of practice, boundaries, supervision
- Neurodiversity and therapeutic alliance
- 1-2-1 and group programmes
In short, we have constructed a full and enriching educational experience – with ongoing practice sessions, assessment, mentoring, supervision and case studies.
The initial ‘Introduction to Yoga Therapy’ is a short online course, quality-assured by the British Wheel of Yoga and is a stand-alone course for anyone interested in yoga therapy, and also the first x 15hours of the diploma training – dip your toe in to check it’s a good fit before applying for the diploma.
We will explore multiple perspectives through which we can understand health, pain, dis-ease and wholeness – ayurvedic perspectives on anxiety & depression, back pain to explore physical/mind/emotional connections, vulnerability and protection. A live yoga therapy demo will give you insight into the structure of a yoga therapy session.
We aim to create a safe and inclusive space in which to share knowledge, experiences, insights, and practices that support the learning process. By keeping groups small, we ensure that everyone is included in deep learning with their tutors and peers, and support ongoing community which is continually growing.
Guidance comes from inside as well as from experts in their fields, and that’s education.
Let’s celebrate the power of yoga therapy together. Take action now.
